Can anyone name this game?

ok so i played this game on computer years ago were you controlled a 2d spaceship with a mouse or arrow keys. you could get loads of different types of weapons and levels and i think one of the best weapons was like a ball and chain attached to the back. i had the game but i lost it and just want to now what it is called because it was surprisingly fun. sorry the desctiption of it isnt very good i can see the game in my head but i just cant describe it.
